Geograhic
Information Science and Technology consists of spatial data
and the tools and techniques used to collect, store, organize,
analyze, and present spatial data. Spatial information technologies
broadly include remote sensing and image processing, photogrammetry,
geographic information systems, global positioning system technology,
computer cartography, spatial statistics, spatial data visualization,
and the accompanying computer hardware/software and data capture
equipment necessary for the collection, processing and presentation
of spatial data. Spatial data itself is unique in that it is
geographically and temporally referenced.
This page is a resource for anyone interested in learning more
about spatial information technology. The links below mirror
the categories described in the preceding paragraph. In addition,
a link to some applications of spatial information technology
is provided. While this is not an exhaustive list of links,
it provides a good basis for further instruction in these areas.
